The Outings Group
The Group is very informal and new members are always welcome to join us. Once a month group members take it in turns to select a venue and arrange car sharing, to reduce the cost of petrol. Some of the places we have visited include Fountains Abbey, Wallington Hall, Beamish, Thorp Perrow Arboretum, York, Ripon, Yarm’s Butterfly World, various waterfalls, Northumberland’s castles and beaches, and many more. We always try to visit new places but sometimes repeat visits are arranged at different times of the year to get the benefit of changing seasons..
Each year since 2007 the Group has visited Edinburgh in August for the Fringe Festival, where photographs can be taken of street entertainers of many nationalities, who are there to advertise their shows. It has proved to be a very enjoyable day, travelling by train and taking advantage of cheap travel by booking tickets early: and of course producing some notable photographs for the club competitions…
The Outings Group was formed over ten years ago. Any interested members from the Whickham Photographic Club can come along.
We all take our photography seriously, but still find time to enjoy a coffee and a lunch at a local hostelry. At Christmas we always have an outing combined with a Christmas lunch.
Please contact the Secretary for more information.
** If members fancy joining an outing please let us know so that we have some idea of numbers and transport.**
Just to let members know that the next Wednesday Group photographic outing will be next Wednesday 14 September – to Talkin Tarn Country Park, Brampton. We will meet at the Fellsider pub car park on Fellside Road, Whickham at 9.00am.
If you think you might attend it would be nice to know so that we don’t drive off without you.
